Letter To Kassius

Letter To Kassius
by Guns Cory Addison on Friday, September 17, 2010 at 7:41pm
I don't need no dears what I look like santa this a letter to you from a fan//

Let me be the first to say you inspire me to be what I want or at least what I can//

With the power of God you transformed into a talented
man I guess they don't understand//

They see a rapper spitting bars about cars and bitches they think that rappers different//

They see a rapper spitting about real substance they think the rapper got glitches//

Hip hop is at a tall stance they rather fit in then stand out and be their own man//

But with you K_B you got your own style and a plan don't let these record companies have you in the palm of their
hand//

Its easy being him but its hard being you that's life and its meant to tell the truth//

Out of all the rappers I listen to your flow is one of the cleanest//

And you'll have a lot of haters so you'll take plenty of shots like gilbert arenas//

But i know you'll brush it off what's a small thing to a giant//

To shut up the critics just get in the booth and go on a new york tyrant//

Which will make the haters shoot they self like a new york giant//
When I be on the net K_B man its a crime you don't have to know how to rhyme to get signed//

That's ridiculous knowin how much hard work rappers put in and not to mention the time//

I guess they doin it for the money and that's a incredible devilous sign//

When it comes to hard lines Dog your flow can be compared to a cannon//

But all these other bubble gum rappers making hip hop as soft as dannons//

But I gotta end this letter with a huge amount of joy and some blinks//

Im just happy that a met a legend that has yet to reach
his peak//

Sincerely yours truly hopefully one day we can meet//

THAT'S MY LETTER TO KASSIUS

WHO IS K_B ???

THE STYLE IS COURAGEOUS HIS BARS ARE OUTRAGEOUS//
I REMEMBER WHEN I FIRST HEARD HIM RAP IT FELT CONTAGIOUS//
ALWAYS NEEDED ANOTHER NIGGA TO PUSH ME TO MY TALENTS//
IT WAS LIKE I WAS ON 1 FOOT AND I FINALLY FOUND MY BALANCE//
SEE K_B IS A MONSTER HE'S A MENTOR HE'S THE TRUTH//
GO ON YOUTUBE LOOK HIM UP IS WHAT IM TELLING YOU TO DO//
DONT KNOW DAT MUCH ABOUT EM BUT I TELL YOU THE TRUTH BITCH//
I FEEL LIKE I KNOWN EM FOR YEARS THROUGH HIS MUSIC//
HONESTLY HONESTY CAN'T EVEN DESCRIBE HOW HE BREAKS IT DOWN//
METAPHORS AND SMILIES HE GOT ENUFF TO GO AROUND//
THE NEXT KANYE OR MAYBE THE NEXT JAY-Z//
NAH MY NIGGA HE IS JUST THE FIRST K_B//
SEE HIS VOICE IS KIND OF LAZY BUT THAT'S A ATTRIBUTE FOR NY RAPPERS//
PUNCH LINES ARE ON POINT LIKE A ICE COLD SNAPPLE//
HE GON BE THE FUTURE OR BETTER YET THE PRESENT AS IT SITS//
WHY THEY CALL IT THE PRESENT CUZ THAT BOY DERE GOT A GIFT//
IF HE GOES IN WIT A DISS TRACK IT WOULD BE DOPE//
SLAYING FAKE RAPPERS COME AS EASY AS FREETHROWS//
WITHIN IN DUE TIME MR.BRIKKZ WILL BE ON TOP//
AND SURRONDED BY DIAMONDS LIKE HE WAS RECORDING FOR THE ROC//
NO FELLA WHO BETTA HE GOES OFF NO ALARM//
AND I HOPE HE BUTS ME DOWN LIKE A OL YELLA ON A FARM//
SHIT EVERYTHING IN LIFE HAPPENZ FOR A REASON//
CAN'T YOU TELL THAT IM BLESSED BUT THE NEXT MAN ALWAYS SNEEZING//
K_B IF YOU READ THIS OR YOU EVER GET TO SEE THIS//
I WENT OFF ON THESE CATS WITH NO BULLETS GILBERT ARENAS//

Bed-Stuy Fly by S.KING

Now this is what a streetwear store in Bed-Stuy should look like. Bed-Stuy Fly (287 Ralph Avenue, between Sumpter & Fulton Streets) was first located on Malcolm X Boulevard, between Jefferson and Putnam Avenues - right next door to the now closed twofiftyeight Cafe. Store owner S. King decided to move the retail business into one of his rental properties at 287 Ralph Avenue. Once upon a time, it used to be a barber and beauty shop. Barbering is his niche, but admits that he has more of a passion for the clothing industry.

Surprisingly, moving east over to Ralph Avenue proved to be more profitable. He says he’s getting more foot traffic and hopes to gain more traction as the summer approaches. Good community support helps since he’s already established a name from being at the location. Some of the brands they sell attracts people who dont know about Bed-Stuy Fly. He says the brands they sell have status, so people come in looking for it. You’ll find labels like Crooks & Castles, Rocksmith (S. King says JayZ wears it often) and his own label – S. King Clothing. ”I think what makes us stand out is our set up and the kind of brands that we try to bring in. It’s more a brand that you have to go outside of the hood to get. You have to go to SoHo or Downtown Brooklyn somewhere.”

There are few businesses east of Malcolm X that have a welcoming feel and have a sense of interior design. He feels at the current location, the layout and the set up of the store works, giving it a more homey feel. ”When I decided to redesign this, I wanted it to look like my apartment,” S. King explained. ”I noticed that people would come in and they would not be afraid to touch things. This is more like their home…they sit down, they’re not afraid to do whatever. The access is different. Its more comfortable for all of us.” It’s very easy and chill. The space has raw wood floors throughout. He says if it was comfortable for him at home, it will be comfortable for the customers.

If you have a chance to visit Bed-Stuy Fly, tell S. King and his team that you read about them at the Bed-Stuy Blog! Getting there is simple. Take the B25 (Fulton Street), B47 (Ralph Avenue) or C train Ralph Avenue stop to Ralph and Fulton.
